Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("ToS") govern your use of the The Prancing Pony In(n) social network instance, which is part of the Fediverse. By accessing or using The Prancing Pony In(n), you agree to be bound by these ToS. If you do not agree with any part of these ToS, please do not use The Prancing Pony In(n).

1. Use at Your Own Risk


No Guarantees: The Prancing Pony In(n) is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the service, including but not limited to any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
User Responsibility: You use The Prancing Pony In(n) at your own risk. We are not responsible for any content posted on the service, nor for any interactions or transactions that occur between users.

2. Limitation of Liability


No Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Prancing Pony In(n) and its owners, administrators, and moderators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the service, including but not limited to damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other intangible losses.

3. Legal Compliance


Cooperation with Authorities: In the event of a legal inquiry or investigation, The Prancing Pony In(n) reserves the right to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and provide any logs, data, or information requested by official authorities.
Data Retention: We may retain logs and data as required by law or for the purposes of investigating and preventing abuse of the service.

4. User Conduct


Acceptable Use: You agree to use The Prancing Pony In(n) in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. You are solely responsible for your conduct and any content you post on the service.

Account Suspension: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to The Prancing Pony In(n) at any time, for any reason, and without notice.
By using The Prancing Pony In(n), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service.

  1. Rules and Fair Use Policy
  2. We are committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and lawful community. By using our platform, you agree to adhere to the following rules and guidelines. Failure to comply may result in content removal, account suspension, or other disciplinary actions.

  3. A. Prohibited Content

  4. Illegal Activities: Do not engage in or promote illegal activities. This includes but is not limited to, promoting violence, terrorism, or criminal acts.
  5. Hate Speech: Content that attacks or uses pejorative or discriminatory language with reference to a person or a group on the basis of who they are, in other words, based on their religion, ethnic or national origin, race, color, descent, gender, or other identity factor is prohibited.
  6. Harassment and Bullying: Do not engage in harassment, bullying, or threatening behavior towards other users. This includes stalking, doxxing, or invading someone's privacy.
  7. Graphic Violence and Gore: Excessively violent or gory content is not permitted.
  8. Sexually Explicit Content: Pornographic or overly explicit content is prohibited.
  9. Misinformation: Do not spread false or misleading information that could cause harm.

  10. B. Copyright and Intellectual Property

  11. Respect Copyrights: Do not post, share, or distribute copyrighted material without proper authorization or attribution. This includes text, images, videos, and other forms of media.
  12. Fair Use: Ensure that any use of copyrighted material falls within fair use guidelines. If you are unsure, it is best to seek permission from the copyright holder.

  13. C. Privacy and Consent

  14. Personal Information: Do not share personal information about others without their explicit consent. This includes addresses, phone numbers, and other sensitive data.
  15. Images and Media: Do not post images or videos of individuals without their written permission. Respect the privacy and consent of all individuals.

  16. D. Sensitive Content

  17. Respect Sensibilities: Avoid posting content that may be offensive, disturbing, or harmful to others. This includes but is not limited to, content that may trigger distress or discomfort.
  18. Content Warnings: Use content warnings (CWs) for potentially sensitive material to allow users to choose whether they wish to view it.

  19. E. Age Restrictions

  20. Adult Users Only: Users must be of legal adult age as per their country's laws and French laws to participate on this platform. This is to ensure compliance with legal requirements and to maintain a mature community environment.

  21. F. Community Guidelines

  22. Respectful Interaction: Treat all users with respect and courtesy. Encourage positive and constructive discussions.
  23. Reporting Violations: If you encounter content or behavior that violates these rules, please report it to our moderation team. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.

  24. G. Moderation and Enforcement

  25. Moderator Actions: Our moderators reserve the right to remove content, suspend accounts, or take other actions as necessary to enforce these rules.
  26. Appeals: If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, you may appeal by contacting our support team.

  27. H. Legal Compliance

  28. French Laws: All users must comply with French laws in addition to the laws of their own country. This includes but is not limited to, data protection regulations and content restrictions.
  29. By adhering to these rules, you help us create a safe, respectful, and enjoyable community for everyone.

Privacy Statement

At the time of registration, and for providing communications between the user account and their contacts, the user has to provide a display name (pen name), an username (nickname) and a working email address. The names will be accessible on the profile page of the account by any visitor of the page, even if other profile details are not displayed. The email address will only be used to send the user notifications about interactions, but wont be visibly displayed. The listing of an account in the node's user directory or the global user directory is optional and can be controlled in the user settings, it is not necessary for communication.

This data is required for communication and is passed on to the nodes of the communication partners and is stored there. Users can enter additional private data that may be transmitted to the communication partners accounts.

At any point in time a logged in user can export their account data from the account settings. If the user wants to delete their account they can do so at https://theprancingpony.in/settings/removeme. The deletion of the account will be permanent. Deletion of the data will also be requested from the nodes of the communication partners.
